Maps and Charts

Hello and Thank you for your interest in my work. Your comments are welcome!

Maps and Charts are a group of topographical studies of invented space both atmospheric and terrestrial. They are my own personal exploration of the idea of infinity and what the endless path towards it would look like.

I envision infinity as a series of lines, where they begin and continue to go, unrehearsed, rhythmic, sinuous and flowing, - not defining specific form but instead demonstrating speed, energy and direction. The surface on which the lines travel through is thick and bumpy with layers of paint, recalling the various environments along the path to infinity.

Horses in ink watercolor and crayon

I've been incorporating animals into my paintings here and there for a few years now. It's hard not to when you live across the road from a horse farm. I'm still using the same techniques (same process, similar materials) as in the Maps and Charts paintings. My focus has been to examine the way the animals arrange themselves - the mentality of the herd, flock (group). Here's my latest:

Two Brown Horses, Two White Horses, One Horse Blanket, 11 x 20 1/2in. mixed media on paper
